The Salvation Army

• The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of
the universal Christian Church.

• Its message is based on the Bible.

• Its ministry is motivated by love for God.

• Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs in his name without discrimination.

The Salvation Army, in contact with people and human need, follows the Founder, William Booth’s, motto: «Soup, soap, salvation». Our aim is to care for the whole person by feeding the hungry, giving dignity to the brokendown, and preaching the saving and atoning love of Jesus Christ to
all people.
The Salvation Army works in 111 countries and preaches the gospel in 175 languages.

Social Work
Humanity is created by God and has infi nite worth. This is the basis of the Salvation Army’s social work. This work encompasses health programmes (including work among aids sufferers), drug rehabilitation, care for the elderly,
children’s homes, accommodation for the homeless, prison work, food distribution, home visitation, thrift shops, aid to refugees and the world-wide family tracing service.
After natural disasters, acts of war and major accidents The Salvation Army Emergency Services distribute food and other supplies, offer counselling and work on a long term basis with the victims.

Worship
The Salvation Army’s meetings and services are open to all, regardless of background, faith or ethnic origin.
Most corps (community centres) also have various activities for children and young people, Bible study groups, music groups and over-sixty clubs.
